I actually have a number of friends (in LA and in other parts of California) that have done what you did. I have seriously considered it, although I don’t think I am the greatest teacher, my patience wears thin quite easily. But other than teaching, yes, I need to push myself to be happy (and have been), but I find that LA is a very difficult place to do so.

I felt like this for a while. Kind of.
Maybe worse, maybe for longer.

Get out.
I took my Bachelor’s Degree and taught English in Korea for a year.
I changed fundamentally.

I suggest doing something like that.
You don’t need to teach English in Korea, but.
Challenge yourself.
Break out of the norm, the stagnant environment you’ve landed in.
If you can’t push yourself to make yourself happy here, try doing it somewhere else.

For what it’s worth, though, Korea will take you.
And the process will take far less time than you think.
