Face-to-face networking is the most effective way -- I toally agree. I feel like there is an energy connection that is lost when you networking online. Having a positive outlook on life is a wonderful thing. These are very challenging times and it's easy to get overwhelmed with feelings of negativity. If you listen to the news or read about it, the outlook can seem gloomy. "This too will pass." You don't mention  what your career involves. If you're in a situation where you work alone or from home, it may be helpful to get out and surround yourself with other people. Networking online is great but it can't compete with networking face-to-face.
