I absolutely love what Apple has done with its new ad campaign for Siri with celebrities Samuel L. Jackson, Zooey Deschanel, and now: John Malkovich.

John Malkovich talks to Siri on the iPhone 4S
My reaction to the new John Malkovich Siri advertisement (which I saw for the first time tonight) struck me with a sense of awe; And then I started clapping — I was not just clapping at the entertainment and information values, but at how the commercial affected me on a deep level of marketing.
I had no idea giving Siri commands could be so efficient and mechanic, yet so human at the same time.
Apple has pulled off an amazing feat by providing viewers with a basic tutorial on how to operate Siri, while being presented by some of the most influential people in the world. These commercials do much more than bolster the power of Siri. By showing us how Siri can be utilized is a good marketing strategy because it works on multiple levels of branding; The way it is perceived by different people in different demographics amazes me.
For example: Siri users vs non-Siri users:
My Mother is a new iPhone user, so naturally, her Son (me) is the person in charge of teaching her how to use Siri and all the other functions of her new phone. A little background: I am not an iPhone user, but a Droid user and tech enthusiast (and Mom-tech-updaterer). In the given situation, Apple has done wonders to engage me on various levels of emotion and information. The ad has re-educated me on an alternate way of using Siri — because every person uses a tool differently — all at the same time reaffirming my choice to believe in Apple as the leader in innovative corporations.
To put things into perspective, Siri is a definite game-changer for me and my next phone purchase. It’s just another one of those features that is nudging me into the direction of an iPhone purchase in the up-coming years (coming from a Droid user of almost 1 year – I know, I know, I was way late to the party, it wasn’t in the budget).
